Preventive Health Checkup Packages

Health Screening: The concept
The adoption of a western lifestyle with its fast-food and stressful. Fast life has rewarded us with considerable economic benefits, but in its wake it has also conferred upon us such health problems as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attacks, paralytic attacks (strokes) and cancer. These diseases are called the silent killers, because in their early stages they cause almost no symptoms so that a person is totally unaware of their presence in his body. Over years these silent assasins continue their deadly work upon our organs, like termites eating us from the inside. When symptoms appear and the person reports himself to his doctor, these diseases are already in an advanced stage and then there is very little that can be done, other than damage control. Health screening is the means to identify the presence of these diseases at an early stage when effective measures can be taken to contain these killers and prevent them from causing irreparable damage to our body.

Health Screening: The Method
Health screening involves a thorough history and physical examination by a qualified physician to identify a person's particular risk profile that may indicate his susceptibility to certain diseases. This is followed by a battery of tests that are aimed at detection of any disease that may be present at a stage that is too early to cause any symptoms.

Health Screening : The Candidates
All healthy persons should undergo regular health screening to enable identification of diseases at an early stage. This applies especially to individuals who are at particular risk because of family history of diseases like Diabetes, High BP and Heart attack, or because of high levels of stress, consumption of junk food, excessive body weight and damaging habits such as smoking, chewing tobacco and consumption of alcohol. Elderly people and women after menopause are also especially susceptible to certain diseases. Health screening also applies to persons who are already taking treatment for some disease, as they also may be having other currently undetected disease or complications of their recognized disease.

Health Screening : The Cost
Health screening utilizes relatively simple and inexpensive tests because identification of disease at an early stage is very easy while identification of the complications of disease at an advanced stage is more difficult and needs more advanced and expensive techniques. Similarly treatment of disease at an early stage is easier and less expensive as compared to treatment at a later advanced stage.

Health Screening : The Benefits
The benefits of health screening are immense :

  • Identification of disease at an early stage when treatment is much more effective and inexpensive.
  • Absence of any disease will reinforce your belief in your own good health and make you feel self-confident.
  • It is an opportunity to interact with your doctor and raise any query about your health, diet, medications, exercise etc.
  • It will make you aware about your health and will provide you with the motivation to make appropriate lifestyle and dietary modifications.
  • It is a simple and inexpensive road to good health.
